Job Summary: The Lead Housekeeping Technician performs a variety of cleaning and minor building maintenance/repair activities in and around assigned Zoo exhibits/facilities while supervising part-time team members. This position ensures that the general public and staff enjoy a clean and safe environment.Must work in tandem with zoo event staff to manage and facilitate the zoo’s various events. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: Assisting fellow leadership of Buildings and Grounds in maintaining inventory, scheduling, providing coverage when needed, and overseeing team members. Drive zoo carts to deliver supplies and perform various duties throughout the zoo. Perform general cleaning and housekeeping inside building over an assigned area such as cleaning and sanitizing public restrooms, vacuuming and disinfecting floors, washing windows, dusting furniture, and emptying trash cans. Assist with maintaining outside cleanliness of grounds by picking up litter/trash, emptying trash containers, hosing down ramps/patios, clearing pathways, sidewalks, parking lots, and drives. Represent the zoo in a professional manner and provide quality customer service to our guests. Providing oversight to full-time and part-time team members and delegating tasks to ensure the cleanliness of the Zoo. Assisting with the hiring process and completing training and orientation with new hires. Assisting with radio calls and responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns. Prepare various written materials and reports (e.g. supply orders, activity logs, FMX work orders) and delegate them to the correct recipient. Assisting with the zoo’s various special events including the set-up, the duration, and the clean up after, including rearranging furniture and proper receptacles placed and returned. Keeping up with the online functions such as email, master calendar, SharePoint, and other ZooConnect sites. Attend the special event meetings through online programs and in person. Run light machinery for designated area like floor scrubbers or floor waxing machines or minor building repairs. Perform minor maintenance repairs as needed. Assist Junior Curators and Volunteers throughout their day and ensure productivity. Actively promote and contribute to the Oklahoma City Zoo’s sustainability initiatives and green practices Assist with the Zoo’s various conservation efforts, such as Waste Audit and Lake Clean Up Participate in conservation activities to support Zoo’s mission.
