St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System
Responsible for the development and coordination of the St. Joseph’s and Candler hospital campuses Fire Safety testing and inspections. Will ensure that all fire suppression and fire detection system are maintained and operational per NFPA codes. Ensures applicable life safety codes, policies, and procedures are implemented and enforced. Communicate to hospital staff and contractors the programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Collaborates with contractors and other team members to assess Life Safety risk and implement the Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) for fire alarm and sprinkler testing. Coordinates and conducts all Fire drills. Coordinates testing, inspection and repair activities of the Life Safety Systems with vendors & In-house testing.
Must be highly organized and ability to maintain proper productivity and work flow for multiple projects. Must be a team player and able to maintain cooperative working relationships. Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
The Fire Safety Officer shall perform Environmental Health and Safety functions, on an as needed basis, based on professional judgment and as directed by the manager/director.
Performs secretarial, clerical and administrative services for the Plant Operations Department and Director. May also be assigned other duties as needed.
Education Associates Degree - Preferred
Experience 3-5 Years Life Safety - Required
3-5 Years Public Safety - Required
License & Certification NICET II - Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems - Required within one year of position hire date
NICET II - Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems - Required within one year of position hire date
Core Job Functions
Coordinates and performs all required fire alarm testing and inspections for both Hospital Campuses; which includes weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and testing.
Coordinates and performs all required sprinkler system testing for both Hospital Campuses.
Coordinates and manages inspections of fire extinguisher, additional automatic sprinkler suppression components, access control and other system related to NFPA 25 and NFPA 72.
Collaborates with offsite hospital-based locations to ensure their testing meets city, state, and federal codes and regulations.
Ensures all documentation is received and reviewed timely, meets all of requirements of the applicable codes, and filed in efficient manner.
Follows up on failures, ensuring ILSM and repairs are coordinated/completed and documented correctly.
