Requirements
I Completed introductory training & 3 months experience minimum
Summary
The laborer works under the direction of the heavy equipment operator and/or the excavation supervisor to complete on site tasks including, but not limited to: installation of erosion controls, the clearing of brush and debris using powered and unpowered hand tools, providing spotting services for the operator and truck drivers, and performing general laborer tasks as directed.
Responsibilities
Participates in pre-tour and subsequent safety/JSA/toolbox talk meetings
Understands and takes action on "Stop Work Authority" when appropriate
Conducts routine and pre-use equipment / tool inspections and completes proper documentation when required
Properly inspects, maintains and uses all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company standards and safety policies
Follows all Company safety policies and procedures
Reports to heavy equipment operator upon timely task completions
Assist heavy equipment operator during operations which require completing physical tasks
Ensures fuel levels, oil levels, and replenishes various fuel tanks
Participates in housekeeping activities: cleaning, washing, and painting of support equipment
Complete all other duties as assigned/directed by Company management
Education
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Experience
Previous experience in environmental field is preferred
Previous experience in a high paced safety sensitive work environment preferred
Working knowledge of oil/gas operations preferred
Skills & Abilities
Able to communicate and comprehend the efforts of others
Able to think and act quickly
Able to work in a team environment
Must be organized and attentive to details in a fast-paced working environment
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
Ability to thoroughly follow directions given by supervisors to complete assigned tasks
Ability to work as part of a crew and to follow work orders or receive instructions
Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project
Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements
Able to thank and act independently and make safe decisions regarding personal conduct
Able to work for extended periods of time in harsh weather conditions
Must be able to work flexible hours and travel
Certifications
MSHA Part 48, preferred
Travel
Must be willing to travel (regionally)
Physical Requirements
Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.
PPE includes but is not limited to: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed.
Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another.
Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height.
Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time.
Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights.
Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required.
Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required.
Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements.
Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions.
