Job Summary Environmental Services Technician (EVS) is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
Responsibilities
Empty waste baskets.
Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors.
Use brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
Maintain proper housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment.
Keep storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
Use pagers and technology appropriately when needed.
Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate.
Adhere to all protective equipment guidelines.
Perform physical activities such as lifting up to 40-50 lbs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials.
Be on feet for majority of the shift.
Be prepared for overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
