SCTY 400 – Aviation Security

in person at our Pax River, MD campus. This role requires a commitment to deliver high‑quality instruction in aviation security, covering physical and procedural controls, regulations, current threats, and counter‑terrorism measures.

Course Description The course investigates key aspects of aviation security, including the regulations of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, and ICAO. Topics include current threats, counter‑terrorism measures, new technologies, and the importance of the aviation industry to the global economy.

Qualifications

Doctor’s or Master’s degree in a teaching discipline, or a Master’s degree with a concentration in teaching, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

Active professional certification related to security or aviation security (e.g., ASIS Certified Project Professional, ASIS Professional Certified Investigator, ASIS Physical Security Professional, ACFE Certified Fraud Examiner, IFCPP, Certified Institutional Protection Manager, AAAE members, or airport‑security credentials).

Relevant experience or training in aviation/aerospace security, homeland security, law enforcement, or a legal environment. Preferred positions include intelligence officer, police officer, security director, airport security coordinator, or airline/airport security manager.

Desired Professional Training or Experience

Experience in aviation security, intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement, or a legal environment.

Positions such as intelligence officer, police officer, security director/chief, special agent, airport security coordinator, or airline/airport security manager.

Airport executive or manager experience.

Relevant degrees: Homeland Security, Law, Criminal Justice, Security Administration, Intelligence, Aerospace/Aeronautical.
