Position Summary

The Shop Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles, equipment, small engines, and tools. This position ensures all fleet assets are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently. 11/14/2025 Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, small engines, and mechanical equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues. Complete repairs in accordance with company, safety, and manufacturer standards. Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functioning. Assist with road calls or breakdowns when needed.

Equipment Inspection & Documentation

Conduct pre‑ and post‑service inspections. Document all maintenance activities in the fleet management system. Report major issues, additional repair needs or safety concerns to the Shop Foreman. Ensure all DOT‑regulated equipment meets compliance requirements.

Shop Organization & Safety

Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work area. Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and hazard control procedures. Properly handle tools, chemicals, hazardous waste, and shop equipment. Participate in safety meetings, audits, and training.

Parts & Tool Management

Assist with identifying parts needed for repairs. Notify the Shop Foreman of part shortages or supply needs. Properly store and track tools and shop equipment. Duties may or may not be subject to change.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in mechanical, automotive, diesel, or equipment repair.

Skills and Competencies

Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Excellent communication and people skills. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Meet all physical requirements of the position. Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, by DOT regulations. 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required. Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred

CDL Class A or B. Certifications in diesel, small engine, or equipment repair. Experience with maintenance or fleet management systems.

This role is primarily in a shop environment with occasional fieldwork. Travel may be necessary for breakdowns or training. The job description may be modified based on operational needs.
