Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/return transactions using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) computer system accurately and efficiently.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly and professionally; when appropriate, escalate issues to the Store Manager.
Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training associates on company and store policies.
Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
Ensure all store associates have completed onboarding, job training, and compliance training before operating independently.
In partnership with the Store Manager, schedule associates following scheduling guidelines and managing breaks and meals.
Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify that associates are paid for all time worked.
Maintain cleanliness and merchandising standards throughout the store, including restrooms and fixtures.
Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
Implement effective inventory control and loss prevention practices to protect company assets.
Meet and exceed sales, profit, and shrink goals while completing required administrative duties.
Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products on the sales floor.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips.
Verify shipments for discrepancies, record them in the POS system, and communicate issues to Store Manager or District Manager.
Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls promptly and accurately.
Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, promptly addressing hazardous situations and reporting injuries per company guidelines.
Assist in maintaining store records/files in an organized manner; update manuals as needed.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.

Provide genuine assistance to every guest during each visit.
Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).

Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
Operate POS computer system.
Basic math skills and ability to alphabetize items.
Complete required paperwork correctly.

Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
Manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations without impacting guest interactions.
Reliable, trustworthy, and use good judgment.
Work alone; stand and move throughout the store without assistance for up to 12 hours/day.
Perform lifting tasks up to 30 lbs. and basic fine and gross motor skills.
Obtain and maintain a working understanding of military ranks and insignia (if applicable).
