The Painter role at Brown University Health involves preparing interior surfaces, applying paint and finishes, and maintaining high-quality finishes in hospital environments. The position requires adherence to the organization’s core values and success factors. Responsibilities
Prepares surfaces for painting using sandpaper, wire brushes, steel wool, and cleaning solvents. Removes old paint with liquid paint removers. Fills nail holes and cracks with putty and plaster or other fillers. Masks, covers, and protects areas during painting, including removal of furniture and use of drop cloths. Plasters walls to repair large cracks or holes, tapes drywall, and applies compound. Sands, primes, and paints; selects or mixes premixed paints to desired tones. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, sealer, lacquer, and other protective finishes to interior surfaces, trim, furniture, and equipment. Hangs vinyl wall coverings and repairs vinyl materials as needed. Finishes or refinishes furniture and equipment to specified color or finish. Calculates and selects quantities and types of paints and materials needed for tasks. Records time and materials used on each job and operates graphic 4 system for making signs within the complex. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of courses or experience in painting, plastering, and paper hanging. Three to five years of experience, possibly including apprenticeship program completion. Physical ability to carry materials and climb ladders or scaffolding. Knowledge of painting techniques, use of painting, masonry, and paper hanging; understanding of proper care and use of hand and power tools. Pay Range
