Overview
McElroy is currently looking for a Finisher/Painter. A successful Finisher/Painter sandblasts parts for painting purposes and then spray finishes, coats, and paints parts. They must process parts to be coated using 2‑part polyurethane DTM paint, bake them through the oven process, and inspect the finished parts to ensure quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
Sandblast parts to prepare surfaces for coating.
Apply 2‑part polyurethane DTM paint using electrostatic, pressure pot, conventional, and HVLP cup guns.
Process parts through oven bake‑out to cure the paint.
Inspect finished parts to ensure quality standards are met.
Interpret all prints, sketches, and verbal descriptions to guide painting tasks.
Qualifications
2+ years experience in industrial painting.
Experience with electrostatic paint gun, pressure pot, conventional gun, HVLP cup gun, and sandblasting.
Basic skill in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Own or be willing to purchase the minimum set of tools required for the job and a locking toolbox.
Ability to pass an annual pulmonary test (only if painting).
Ability to wear a respirator during periods of painting or coating of parts.
Safety and Physical Requirements
The position is safety‑sensitive, involving handling hazardous materials, operating machinery, and maintaining equipment whose malfunction could result in injury or property damage.
95% of the normal work shift requires standing, bending, squatting, climbing, running production, inspecting work and machines, and checking procedures.
Job requires moving material and parts weighing up to 50 pounds; lifting devices should be used when possible.
