Description Salary: $19.50 – $25.96 per hour (dependent on experience) Classification: Instruction & Classroom Support Tech 1 Location: Poulsbo Campus, Olympic College Reports To: Director of Tutoring
Essential Functions
Provide academic support to students in non‑STEM subject areas
Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings
Help students interpret discipline‑specific problems and situations
Support students in clarifying critical thinking and communication skills
Assist students working in an online format
Perform other related duties as assigned or required
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Reference from an instructor or professor if currently an Olympic College student
High school graduate, equivalent, or current Running Start student
Completed course(s) to be tutored with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or higher
Basic computer competency
Desired Qualifications for Successful Applicants
Demonstrate excellence in tutoring subject area
Follow campus regulations, local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances
Work various hours and high‑attendance, high‑volume study centers
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
Show strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships
Be adaptable, flexible, and possess excellent customer service skills
Appreciate diversity and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity
Understand and commit to Olympic College mission, vision, and values
Uphold ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment
Terms of Employment Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six‑month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This position is scheduled for up to 18 hours per week. It is an hourly position with optional benefits after eligibility.
Benefits that may become available include a Deferred Compensation Program (DRS), TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan, sick leave, paid holidays, Aflac, space‑available tuition waiver, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), fitness center, reduced rate, and priority consideration for on‑site childcare.
Conditions of Employment
Background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted prior to hire.
Candidate must complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
Employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus.
Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
