Retail Shortage Control – Part Time Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate and deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring a secure shopping environment. This part‑time role focuses on reducing theft and shoplifting by maintaining command presence, engaging customers, and monitoring store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas.

Responsibilities

Maintain a professional appearance and appear at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of surroundings.

Greet each customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and friendly greeting, promoting a sense of control and security.

Create a secure environment by actively observing and reducing opportunities for theft.

Communicate theft‑prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.

Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.

Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to your Manager on Duty promptly.

Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.

Model safety as a top priority and address any unsafe practices immediately.

Qualifications

1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations (preferred).

Ability to stand, walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to analyze business trends and review data.

Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.

Capacity to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with disciplined decision‑making.

Excellent communication with customers and coworkers.

Strong leadership skills that foster productive business relationships.
