Job Description IMMEDIATELY HIRING!
Shift times: start time is 5:30pm
Days: To be determined (TBD)
Pay: $20-$23/hr
This position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Duties include receiving, unpacking, verifying, recording incoming merchandise or material, and arranging transportation of products.
The position provides support to the shipping department: assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material as needed, maintaining high efficiency and accuracy. Work environments vary: dry, cooler, and frozen atmospheres.
Responsibilities
Examine contents and compare with records (manifests, invoices, orders) to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
Record shipment data (weight, charges, space availability, damages, discrepancies) for reporting, accounting, and record‑keeping.
Determine shipping method using knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.
Deliver or route materials using hand truck, pallet jack, stand‑up forklift, etc.
Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, non‑conformance.
Compute amounts for space available, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges using calculator or price list.
Essential Duties
Check incoming merchandise against invoices or orders to spot quantity discrepancies and damaged goods and inspect quality and condition.
Move product to correct storage areas.
Be familiar with all product locations.
Keep supervisor informed of inventory levels and product requirements.
Follow instructions from managers, supervisors, and associates correctly.
Accurately differentiate similar products.
Keep warehouse neat, orderly at all times.
Work Experience Requirements
Prefer 2‑4 years previous experience in receiving, preferably in food distribution.
Previous experience in food distribution highly desirable.
Experience using a WMS scanning system or similar software.
Accountability, accuracy, organized, detail‑oriented.
Honesty, integrity, reliability, responsibility.
Safety awareness and ability to correct conditions that affect employee safety.
Work well under pressure.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Work in high‑paced environment, handle deadlines regularly.
Adapt quickly to workplace changes.
Work in extreme temperatures (cold and frozen).
Stand‑up forklift: 1 year (Required).
Reach experience: 1 year (Required).
Education Requirements
High School Graduate or GED.
Two to four years related experience.
Familiarity with computer software or warehouse software.
Working Conditions Standard warehouse conditions apply. Long hours spent standing, walking, bending, lifting products; operating industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold).
