Primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop. Responsible for processing, packaging, and stocking products according to grocery standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage.
Base Pay Range $18.05/hr - $18.05/hr
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Associates must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other associates who only speak English.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Complete the company's training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, customer service network, safety, and product knowledge.
Physical demands: stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and reach from 6‑72 inches. Requires close vision, color, and depth perception.
Work environment: frequently exposed to wet, hot, or cold conditions and moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; noise level usually moderate.
Compensation Pay transparency: Harris Teeter reasonably expects to pay between $18.05/hour and $22.00/hour for this role as a newly hired associate. Pay may depend on previous experience and skill sets of the applicant.
