Job Overview
Custodian 2 – Keep Washington Safe and Working by providing a safe, sanitary environment for L&I programs. Location: Tumwater, Washington.
Duties
Restroom cleaning and restocking, trash removal, glass cleaning, stocking custodial pantries, unlocking buildings.
Regular cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, wiping surfaces during business hours.
Outdoor activities: cleaning ashtrays, entry ways, leaf blowing, emptying trash cans.
Carpet and chair cleaning with carpet extractors and upholstery extractors.
Life safety response to spills or other immediate cleaning needs during the day.
Event support: set‑ups of tables, chairs, trash and recycle containers, emptying when filled.
Qualifications
Ability to read and write.
Six months to one year experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi‑skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.
Physical Ability
Lift, move, or transfer 50 lbs or more.
Stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, push, pull, and kneel.
Work safely with a backpack vacuum, floor crew machinery, and other equipment as designed for up to 8 hours.
Wear a uniform and use prescribed chemicals on a daily basis which may require protective equipment.
Exercise discretion in the workplace, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
