Certified Peer Support Specialist/Trainee (Caresline) County of Riverside – Riverside University Health System's Behavioral Health Department is seeking multiple bilingual Certified Peer Support Specialists/Trainees to fill current and future vacancies within the CARESLINE program in Riverside City.

About the Position

Consumer: Must have personal recovery experience from mental health or substance abuse for at least 1 year.

Must be able to share personal experiences with others.

May require background investigation and extensive questionnaire.

What is CARESLINE?

– Riverside County’s Access center connecting MediCal members to mental health and substance use services.

How It Works

Applicants answer questions on personal experience, work experience, and qualifications.

The most competitive applicants are referred for interviews.

Applicants will receive email notification if their application is no longer being considered.

Schedule

– Varies depending on location and department needs.

Compensation

Peer Support Specialist Trainee: $19.44–$26.64 per hour.

Certified Peer Support Specialist: $23.30–$31.72 per hour.

Valid California Driver's License and CALMHSA MediCal Peer Support Specialist certification may be required at various locations.

Key Responsibilities

Work with members to help bridge them to services.

Advocate for member needs with substance use and mental health providers.

Follow up with members post hospitalization and after missed appointments.

Help members overcome barriers to treatment.

Provide transportation when needed.

Secure releases of information from members and their medical providers.

Help facilitate groups.

Answer calls in a high volume call center and manage Care plans.

Accurate documentation in electronic health records; assist members with MediCal benefits.

Provide self‑disclosure of personal lived experience (required by State Certification).

Inform, train, support, and empower consumers, families, and caregivers.

Represent the consumer perspective within the behavioral health system.

Facilitate self‑help groups and coordinate special events and trainings.

Develop activities, programs, and resources to support goals.

Build relationships with agencies and organizations.

Prepare and support clients in progress consultation meetings and hearings.

Assist in articulating needs and enhancing satisfaction.

Document all activities following MediCal billing practices.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Recovery experience as a consumer, family member, or caregiver of behavioral health or substance abuse services.

Medi‑Cal Peer Support Certification obtained within 2 years of start date (or prior for Certified).

Valid California driver’s license may be required.

Knowledge of diverse consumer needs, available agency services, and culturally competent care.

Ability to learn and work within the behavioral health system, advocate, communicate, and maintain accurate records.
