Department: Food & Nutrition Services Cafeteria
Shift: UR – Day (United States of America)
Salary Range: $18.38 – $24.94 per hour (according to the applicable collective bargaining agreement)
Responsibilities
Exercising courtesy in contacts with patients, customers, and department staff; set up, serve, and clean up the food service area; prepare orders such as soda fountain dishes and desserts as directed.
Maintain prescribed standards of sanitation, housekeeping, and safety in the assigned work area.
Set up food for serving, serve food according to prescribed manner, clean utensils and equipment before, during, and after serving.
Perform limited food preparation or final processing of simple salads, desserts, vegetables, etc., by cutting up items of food, dishing out portions, wrapping, labeling, and rotating food.
Set up, maintain, and clean beverage containers, including coffee, iced tea, hot chocolate, cream, juice and ice dispensers, and related equipment.
Set up condiment areas, salad, dessert, and hot food counters; maintain adequate supply and keep area clean; store condiments and leftovers in a sanitary manner.
Check for replacement of deleted or shortage of items and notify proper personnel.
Wash and sanitize dining room tables and chairs, clean ash trays, and maintain adequate supplies of salt and pepper shakers; set up patient trays; pull and/or push food transporters as necessary.
Maintain proper housekeeping, sanitation, and safety standards, including washing table service implements, serving and preparation utensils, and food transporters.
Report defective equipment to the immediate supervisor; occasionally act as a fill‑in cashier, handling cash and making change.
Perform other food service duties as required.
Qualifications
Ability to read and write English, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
