We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Monitor to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you’ll provide direct support to residents while ensuring their rights are respected and upheld in a safe and secure environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness—all within a collaborative and supportive team setting. Job Summary
The Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for both participants and staff. This fast-paced, client-facing role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to working with individuals impacted by homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and trauma. Key Responsibilities
Enforce Joyous Ventures’ rules and regulations consistently Uphold policies around alcohol/drug use, harassment, and participant conduct Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents (e.g., theft, accidents, medical needs) Treat all participants with dignity, fairness, and respect De-escalate conflicts with support from the Program Manager and Clinical Social Worker Support conflict prevention and risk-reduction strategies Manage emergency situations, including contacting law enforcement when necessary Participate in trainings on trauma-informed care, racial and gender sensitivity, homelessness, and safeguarding Monitor security cameras to ensure ongoing safety Complete accurate, timely incident reports Change locks and manage key systems as needed Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience, preferably in a homeless shelter or related setting Ability to think clearly and act decisively under pressure Commitment to fairness, prevention, and de-escalation Basic computer skills (for incident reporting and camera system navigation) Experience in human services strongly preferred Certifications Required:
