Mammogram Technologist, Breast Care Center
Job Summary
The Mammogram Technologist at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing high‑quality mammographic images independently and efficiently. This includes reviewing requests, ensuring correct procedures, documenting patient history, and maintaining radiation safety measures. The technologist also supervises training for other mammogram techs and students, participates in quality assurance activities, and communicates effectively to inform radiologists of any unusual findings.
Job Functions
Provide mammographic images of the highest technical quality with minimal supervision in a timely manner to assist physicians in diagnosing disease.
Review x‑ray requests, physician orders or patient charts to assure correct procedures, introduce themselves to patients, document patient history, and explain and answer questions about mammogram procedures.
Ensure diagnostic excellence.
Practice radiation safety measures to prevent injury to patients.
Secure and maintain supplies with care to help control cost and avoid delays.
Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and satisfactorily completed a Radiologic Technologist training in an approved school.
Licenses and Certifications
Registered by ARRT.
Obtained certification in mammography (preferred).
Work Experience
1–3 years of training or experience specifically in mammography (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Serve patient population categories ranging from infants to geriatrics.
Provide images of the highest technical quality in a timely manner.
Participate in quality assurance and QC activities to assure quality patient care.
Supervise training for mammogram techs and students to ensure basic fundamentals and adequate sector coverage.
Promote a caring attitude toward all visitors, patients, and personnel to enhance departmental and institutional goals.
