Responsible for cleaning operating rooms, transporting patients to and from Operating Room Services and transporting needed items to and from various departments in the hospital. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview Responsible for cleaning operating rooms, transporting patients to and from Operating Room Services and transporting needed items to and from various departments in the hospital. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.
What You Will Do
Clean and maintain operating rooms before and after surgical procedures. Maintain cleaning solutions and cleaning equipment.
Transport pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric patients, both inpatients & outpatients, to and from surgical suites, Pre‑op Holding, EPOH and CVICU areas.
Transport requested items such as blood, x‑rays, pharmacy items, SPD items, charts, records and equipment between departments and surgical units; transport requested supplies in a timely, accurate manner.
Participate in CIP, Quality Improvement and evaluation activities and implement measures to ensure that hospital, JCAHO and other quality standards are met.
Maintain principles of aseptic technique according to hospital policy and procedure and AORN standards. Maintain and store equipment in a clean/safe condition. Stock and maintain the proper par levels of various supplies such as blankets, brushes, etc., in the assigned surgical unit.
Recognize and respond appropriately to environmental safety factors.
Perform other job functions.
Education / Formal Training Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience Requirements
Experience with neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients/customers
Licenses & Certifications Requirements
HEART SAVER - American Heart Association
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
Ability to read, write, understand, and effectively communicate in English with minimal mental application performing repetitive tasks and duties.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Ability to organize and complete tasks.
Supervision Provided by this Position
There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.
Physical Demands
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
Must have good balance and coordination.
Heavy work—exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
Requires close visual acuity to perform tasks such as custodial work, food services, general laborer duties or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
