Job Summary Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.

Emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines;

Demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff;

Cleaning locations such as patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards;

Wearing appropriate protective equipment following guidelines and keeping storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy;

Using pagers and other technology appropriately when needed and assisting in the laundry areas as appropriate;

Managing physical activities that include lifting and moving up to 40‑50 lbs, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials;

Being on feet for the majority of the shift and managing noise from equipment;

Adapting to variable work hours, possible overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays depending on location and patient/resident needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred);

Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience (preferred);

Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience (helpful);

Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals (helpful);

Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills (required);

Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment (preferred).
