POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a DC Power Technician to join our growing Telecom Division. As a Level I Technician, you are responsible for quality battery installation of equipment in the central office and outside plant environments, as specified in engineering instructions, drawings, and in accordance with customer standards. This is a field-based position, requiring extensive travel.
Responsibilities:
Directly supervised and instructed by a Level III or Level IV Installer or the job supervisor/lead for basic work operations, not including live equipment and circuits
Perform site preparation tasks including lifting, assembly and other duties as assigned by job
Install, test, and turn up equipment in the central office and outside plant environments
Add and/or removal of battery strings
Perform additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits
Add and/or remove circuits on working power distribution equipment
Installation of auxiliary framing and relay racks
Onsite analysis of job drawings and specifications to resolve any issues prior to job start
Preparation of SMOP's and DMOP's for the project
Perform the addition or removal of common systems equipment and hardware
Complete DC audits, preventive maintenance, and/or load testing of DC power systems and standby batteries
Follow safety guidelines as outlined by company, customer, and Global Safety Training requirements
Add and/or upgrade software as needed
Maintain a professional orientation, ensuring quality and outstanding customer service
May perform certain elevated duties under the direct supervision of Level III or IV Technician
Desired Skills and Background:
High School Diploma; Technical Degree preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of customer service standards including but not limited to Telcordia Standards
Strong verbal and written customer facing skills
Experience with complying with customer standards and paperwork including testing and closeout paperwork, preferred
Experience using electronic test equipment
Special electronics training, equivalent military training, or work experience preferred
Ability to communicate and work well in a team environment
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ServiceMax
Provides reliable, detail oriented performance
Experience performing hot cuts
Ability to lift up to, and sometimes team‑lift in excess of 50 pounds
Electrical or battery experience, Telecom experience preferred
The ability to travel up to 75% of the time is necessary.
