Nur Transport Inc is a container drayage carrier moving import and export containers to and from Port Newark/Elizabeth and nearby warehouses. The company driver will operate a company‑owned day cab and chassis to pick up and deliver containers safely, on time, and with professional customer service.
Drivers run local and regional port lanes (typically within 150–200 miles), handle live unloads and drop‑and‑hooks, and work closely with dispatch by phone and app for appointments, updates, and paperwork. This role is ideal for someone who wants steady port work, predictable home time, and a small‑company environment.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a Class A tractor and container chassis to and from Port Newark/Elizabeth, rail ramps, and customer facilities.
Complete pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs immediately.
Check container numbers, seals, weights, and paperwork; use port and warehouse procedures to in‑gate, out‑gate, and deliver correctly.
Communicate with dispatch throughout the day using phone/text/app; update on delays, port congestion, and issues at customers.
Follow all DOT, FMCSA, and port safety rules, including hours‑of‑service, TWIC usage, and terminal PPE requirements.
Keep the truck and assigned equipment clean, fueled, and ready, and follow company policies for breakdowns, inspections, and tickets.
Qualifications
Valid Class A CDL with a clean MVR and safe driving record.
Minimum 1 year recent tractor‑trailer experience (port/drayage experience preferred but not required).
TWIC card, or ability to obtain one within a set timeframe after hire.
Knowledge of North Jersey highways, bridges, and local warehouse areas, or strong willingness to learn port lanes and routes.
Ability to shift manual transmission (if your trucks are manual) and handle tight backing situations at ports and crowded yards.
Ability to lift / pull landing gear, handle container locks, and work outdoors in all weather.
Strong communication skills, reliability, and a professional attitude with customers, dispatch, and port staff.
