We are looking for a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, maintain a safe and clean environment, and assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
Offer product samples and inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
Provide customers with fresh products and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.
Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
Prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
Pack, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
Use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc., properly.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Understand the store's layout and locate products when requested by customers.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
