Lead Firearms Instructor – Part Time / On Call

Job Description Lead Firearms Instructors (LFIs) serve as the first point of contact for Federal Flight Deck Officers at training venues, manage classroom instruction, supervise the gun‑range sessions, and ensure safety and compliance with TSA regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Check in and verify weapons and credentials for all FFDOs.
Conduct classroom instruction, deliver TSA‑approved training and safety brief.
Maintain instructor/student ratio of 1:6.
Ensure a sufficient inventory of training supplies for monthly requalification sessions.
Verify proper scoring of targets, complete administrative forms, and collect training data.
Sign and certify qualification scores; manage non‑qualified cases per policy.
Secure Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) during and after sessions.
Oversee timekeeping of SFI labor hours and internal compliance training.
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of firearms training experience.
Current or former federal law‑enforcement agent, officer, or civilian employee with completion of a recognized federal firearms instructor training program acceptable to TSA/FAMS.
Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
Completed a 2‑3 day firearms re‑qualification training program under SAC/FAMS direction.
Knowledge of TSA MD 2100.2, TSA MD 1400.3, and related information‑security policies.
Requirements
No clearance or public trust required; must be able to obtain none.
US citizenship not required.
Work at indoor or outdoor gun ranges; must handle weapons and ammunition and wear hearing protection.
Must successfully complete security application and background investigation clearance.
