Winter Camp Custodian - Buckeye School of the Arts
Position: Winter Camp Custodian for the 2025‑2026 Winter Camp program at Buckeye School of the Arts. Hours and location TBD based on program needs. Pay range: $19.00/hr – $27.47/hr.
Responsibilities
Maintain building and assigned areas in a clean, orderly, and secure manner following a predetermined schedule.
Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels.
Clean restrooms, locker rooms, and showers.
Wash windows and walls, polish metalwork and clean chalkboards.
Move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing multipurpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings.
Clean window coverings, such as drapes and blinds.
Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school facilities.
Perform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spills, and illness.
Raise and lower flag, lock and unlock gates and doors, and set security systems.
Assist in receiving and distributing supplies and equipment.
May perform minor maintenance tasks in keeping assigned areas safe and operational.
Assist in reporting and preventing facility vandalism.
Perform all general custodial duties as requested by the site administrator.
Properly operate the heating/cooling system.
Keep assigned rooms, buildings, or office space clean, safe and orderly.
Sweep, scrub, mop, clean and wax floors.
Vacuum rugs and carpets.
Clean and dust walls, lockers, furniture, and fixtures.
Sweep walks and asphalt areas.
May perform routine groundskeeping duties.
Assist in restoration of buildings and grounds during school recess or vacation.
Move supplies, furniture and equipment.
Perform minor painting and other building maintenance duties.
Report or correct dangerous or unsightly conditions on the premises.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, procedures, and techniques; cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment; safe working methods and procedures; general maintenance principles.
Perform moderately medium to heavy manual activities.
Efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of personalities.
Make minor building and equipment repairs.
Plan, organize and carry out details of a work schedule efficiently.
Maintain accurate inventory of supplies.
Requisition materials as needed.
Physical Demands
Exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; occasionally lift up to 90 lbs.
Potentially ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps; walking or standing for extended periods.
Perceive sound, vision, depth perception, provide oral information, manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle work with various materials and objects.
May experience hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions due to weather.

Experience & Education Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is acceptable.
Experience areas may include: care and cleaning of buildings and facilities; carpentry, groundskeeping, electrical, plumbing; use of hazardous materials.
