Applications are now being accepted for a Limited Term Employment Public Health Technician position with the Lincoln County Health Department. This is a grant-funded position with Lincoln County and is scheduled to work 16 hours per week. The current funding period will expire on October 31, 2027.

Promotes and supports population health by providing a variety of administrative and technical support services in the public health departments programs and services. Employee assures client access and confidentiality to groups and individuals onsite and in community settings. Provides community health education assistance and technical work to professional roles of Registered Nurse, Registered Sanitarian and Public Health Educators. Assists with planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating health education and prevention programs. Provides communicable disease follow-up per requirements of Wisconsin state statute.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under general supervision and/or as part of various workgroups and teams, the Public Health Technician performs the following functions within the overarching framework of Lincoln County Health Department’s provision of the core functions and essential services of public health. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Public Health Sciences

Keeps appraised of the various laws, regulations, policies and program procedures relating to public health programming

Assist in preparing, maintaining, inventory review, ordering, collecting and distribution of supplies and/or equipment.

Assists with programoperations which may include preparation, scheduling, data entry, working events/clinic promotion, and reporting results.

Assist in tracking various environmental health compliance and enforcement deadlines and issuing compliance letters.

Assist in communicable disease investigations such as securing lab reports, contact tracing, outbreak tracking/line lists, department and immunization audits.

Assist in conducting communicable disease investigations.

Analysis and Assessment

Provides data entry support to the public health programs.

Assists in assuring key data is collected within the programmatic area; participates in data entry, graphic development, reporting data to clients, partners and grant/contracted entities.

Community Partnership

Provides administrative and technical support to Department activities related to development and implementation of community health assessment, planning, program and policy development, and implementation activities.

Qualifications Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with one to two years’ experience in public health or health care.

Wage This position has a starting hourly wage of $21.59. There are no benefits associated with this position.
