Overview
Ariva operates a free income tax assistance program (VITA program) as part of the NYC Free Tax Coalition. As a human services organization, we strengthen the financial stability of low‑income individuals and families in the Bronx. This role involves volunteering as a VITA Program Tax Preparer during the 2026 season. Responsibilities
Review Intake : Verify clients’ IRS paper intake forms, ensuring all fields are complete and identifying necessary tax documents. Prepare Returns : Use IRS‑approved software (Taxslayer) to prepare clients’ Federal and NYS returns for e‑filing or paper filing; stay up‑to‑date on relevant IRS rules and regulations. Commitment
Weekly 4–6 hour shift
(January–April 2026), in person. Skills
Basic computer skills Patience, sense of humor, professional demeanor, strong work ethic Fluency in Spanish highly desirable; previous VITA experience a plus. Benefits

Positions available at multiple locations in the South Bronx and one in Manhattan. Shifts are offered on weekdays, evenings, and weekends from mid‑January to mid‑April 2026. Population Served
Families, immigrants, refugees, ethnic groups, and low‑income communities. Requirements
Age minimum 18+ for adult positions. Minimum age 16+ for adult applicants. Application Process
