Summary The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach will develop the program to compete for championships while ensuring academic achievement, within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and the Department of Athletics.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and game strategies; develop student-athletes to competitive achievements.

Recruit highly successful student-athletes who are physically and academically talented, represent UIS with good character, and strive to graduate from UIS.

Administer a strategic vision for success, including budgeting, planning, organizing, and reconciling flag football accounts for compliance with the budget.

Mentor student-athletes on and off the field; monitor academic performance and progress; teach skills for academic and lifelong learning.

Ensure compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; submit compliance forms, adhere to policies, attend mandatory NCAA education sessions; instruct the assistant coaching staff and athletes on compliance.

Schedule, organize, and conduct practices and competitions, including team travel.

Identify, manage, mentor, and develop ethical and talented assistant coaching staff.

Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance and support student-athletes.

Engage in fundraising, marketing, promotion, alumni and community engagement.

Coordinate on‑campus clinics to increase local and regional exposure of UIS and its flag football program.

Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings; hold office hours; complete required NCAA and UIS training.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the department’s strategic goals and ongoing initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Demonstrated coaching experience and proven ability to recruit, develop, and mentor student-athletes.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree.

Experience coaching flag football.

Understanding of NCAA Division II regulations.

Tenure of successful collegiate coaching with a proven record of recruiting academically qualified student-athletes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Skill instruction, practice and game plan development, academic monitoring.

Fundraising and public relations.

General administrative skills, including budgeting and scheduling.

Strong leadership skills.

Commitment to NCAA DII rules compliance.

Ethical integrity.

Knowledge of flag football rules, strategies, and techniques.

Strong communication skills and organizational abilities.
