Description Gestalt Community Schools is a system of K‑12 college‑preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. The schools provide strong academic outcomes for their scholars through initiatives including meaningful community involvement. GCS catalyzes community leadership to help revitalize the neighborhoods in which it operates and believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community—an approach we call a “gestalt.”

Responsibilities

Creating lesson plans

Teaching scholars a common core based curriculum

Integrating technology into lessons and plans

Motivating scholars towards achievement

Meeting with parents regarding performance and conduct

Developing scholar improvement plans

Working with special educators in a co‑teaching model for students with IEP plans

Work planning with school and network teams

Attending weekly required professional development training

Create and review student assessments

Tutoring students and completing other duties as assigned

Requirements

Current TN Teaching license in Elementary Education with appropriate endorsement codes (Required)

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Proven track record of academic success as evident in TVAAS, state assessments, and valued data (Preferred)

Belief that all students can learn at high academic levels

Proficiency in digital content, technology integration, and project‑based learning

Ability to work in an extended day environment

Ability to teach in an inclusive environment with a co‑teacher

Good communication and written skills required

Team player with strong interpersonal skills
