Job Purpose The assistant coach will assist the head coach in providing a quality middle school activity for all boys and girls, teaching basic sport fundamentals while emphasizing sportsmanship and participation. The assistant coach is also expected to follow the philosophy set forth by the District Athletic Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with teaching the fundamentals of flag football during weekly practices.
Assist in the supervision of students at practices and contests.
Help provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
Help emphasize safety precautions and stay aware of best training and injury management procedures.
Assist with conducting teams and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
Coaches shall abide by rules set by the District Athletic Department for game and facility operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities Student-athletes.
Minimum Qualification
Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.
Must have knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and skills of football.
Must possess the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with schools, participants, parents, and co-workers.
Preferred Qualifications
Be a full or part‑time employee in the District.
Employed in the school as a teacher or administrator for which the candidate is applying.
Physical Demands Employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and fingers, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Terms of Employment Length of work year: Seasonal.

Stipend Information This position is a stipend‑based extra pay position under the Teachers, Librarians and Counselors CBA. Prevailing pay schedules in the CBA govern all coaching/extra pay positions.
