Overview The Luau Show Emcee is responsible for providing the narration of the storyline including before, during, and after each song and dance performance. This narration will be scripted by the Luau Artistic Director. The Luau Emcee will also be responsible to sing designated musical selections during the Luau Show. An integral part of responsibility is maintaining the performance standards as directed by the Luau Artistic Director and working under the supervision of the Luau Stage Manager to maintain the quality of the Luau Show.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Luau Stage Manager, Luau Artistic Director, Light and Sound staff, F&B Luau Manager, and all Luau staff.

Attend and participate in all scheduled rehearsals and trainings for the show as required.

Attend all pre‑shift and post‑shift meetings.

Maintain a pleasant and commanding stage presence.

Be spontaneous and flexible to enhance the performances in the Luau Show.

Learn the cues for all the song and dance numbers of the Luau show.

Follow the lights and sound cues.

Report any problems or issues to the Luau Stage Manager that require his/her attention as they arise.

Ensure compliance with all local and liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.

Ensure compliance with all hotel rules and regulations.

Attend and participate in all department and company required meetings/training.

Provide excellent guest experience for overall guest satisfaction.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisor/management.

Qualifications Essential Job Requirements:

Proven experience as the master/mistress of ceremony in a show production role or equivalent.

High level of confidence and ability to be spontaneous to fit the needs of the Luau Show.

Extensive knowledge of Hawaiian and Polynesian culture, dances and songs.

Ability to work in conjunction with the Luau Stage Manager, Luau Artistic Director, F&B Luau Managers, and Luau staff.

Ability to interact with fellow co‑workers, managers/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.

Ability to work cohesively with fellow co‑workers and managers/supervisors as part of a team.

Available to attend all scheduled rehearsals, training, and hotel required meetings.

Positive attitude.

Ability to read and write in the English language.

Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of management, employees, guests, and others in an attentive friendly, courteous and service orientated manner.

Approach all encounters with attentiveness, friendliness, courtesy and service orientation.

Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Flexibility to adjust to nightly changes according to the needs of the Luau Show.

Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Compliance with all departmental and company policies.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Perform other duties as directed/assigned by managers/supervisors.
