CT State Certification (Elementary, K‑6) required;
Master’s degree in reading and/or mathematics strongly preferred;
A minimum of five years of exemplary elementary classroom teaching experience;
Strong background in research‑based instructional practices;
Strong background in differentiated instruction and the ability to program for all students;
Strong background in curricular content including elementary literacy, mathematics, science and social studies;
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment tools and researched‑based “best practices”;
Experience with administering assessments, data collection and analysis of students’ various stages of growth and development;
Ability to use data to assess, monitor, and improve teaching and student performance;
Extensive knowledge of the SRBI (Scientifically Research‑Based Intervention) process, including the ability to design and write student goals, align instructional materials and plan, monitor and assess tiered interventions;
Experience in collecting, analyzing and interpreting school‑wide, grade level, classroom and individual student data;
Excellent collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills – including written and verbal;
Ability to prepare and present professional development workshops;
Experience in developing, revising and implementing and evaluating curriculum;
Ability to integrate technology into the learning environment for both staff and for students, including the ability to utilize district computer software programs;
Ability to lead, inspire, support and motivate; must be positive, trustworthy and committed to promoting district’s and the school’s vision, mission and goals;
Self‑motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively – ability to bring new ideas to the team;
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Title Elementary Instructional Coach
Reports To Elementary Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction
Job Goal The Elementary Instructional Coach will partner with a wide variety of stakeholders to promote innovative, equitable, meaningful, and impactful support with curriculum, assessment, instruction, and intervention into all aspects of teaching and learning in the EHPS community.
These core coaching responsibilities will drive high‑leverage action steps to improve academic growth and achievement for students and enhance professional learning for elementary educators. The Elementary Instructional Coach will achieve these goals through delivering professional development, conducting coaching sessions, participating in grade level meetings, planning with the district coaching team, and working directly with teachers and students to ensure that targeted, differentiated instruction is in place.
Performance Responsibilities Instruction
Assists teachers with planning solid Tier 1 lessons which are differentiated and aligned to all students’ needs and connected to prioritized district curriculum and materials;
Assists teachers with curriculum pacing, mapping, and the development, implementation and analysis of formative assessments and results;
Leads collaborative conversations around student data, teaching and learning;
Co‑planning with teachers in a student‑centered coaching model, which may include co‑teaching, data collection and analysis;
Maintains visibility in classrooms daily and/or working directly with students as necessary to address instructional needs;
Provides instructional resources for teachers based on formative, benchmark, and observational data;
Works as a member of the school community to educate parents in regards to excellence in instructional practices, resources and strategies.
Leadership
Serves as a member of East Hartford’s district‑level coaching team;
Serves as a liaison between Central Office and the school‑building level;
Assists the building principal in leading teams to develop the School’s Improvement Plan (SIP);
Assists the building principal in delivering the Student Achievement Meeting (SAM) presentations; and build a plan that informs goals, further instruction and action steps in response to the data presented;
Is highly encouraged to serve on a district‑level sub‑committee and/or elementary curriculum team;
Turnkey all relevant information to teachers at their assigned school.
Professional Development
Supports and delivers a variety of professional learning sessions across all content areas;
Delivers, communicates or creates professional learning opportunities based on instructional practices, data analysis, and intentional planning within home school and other district elementary school buildings.
Other
Assumes such other functions as may be delegated or assigned by the Supervisor.
Terms of Employment Ten‑month year. Salary and work year as established in the EHEA collective bargaining agreement.
Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Staff.
