Pay Rate: $21.57 - $22.70 per hour

Head Start / Early Head Start Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 0–5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Children also receive health services, nutrition, and developmental support.

Job Summary and Purpose The Co‑Teacher will provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help them develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, with the overall goal of achieving social competence for the child.

Specific Duties

Provide an environment that supports social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.

Implement the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes, plan activities, and promote parent involvement.

Integrate parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services into learning.

Conduct daily classroom planning and maintain accurate records.

Observe, screen and assess children’s developmental levels and develop goals.

Support parents as the primary educators of their children.

Provide a learning environment that reflects the varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children.

Maintain a physical environment consistent with licensing requirements and health and safety needs.

Perform other duties as required to fulfill program mission.

Essential Job Functions

Plan and implement the program curriculum for children enrolled in double sessions.

Conduct classroom planning and incorporate various Head Start services.

Observe, screen and assess children’s developmental levels.

Support parents as the prime educators of their children.

Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Must pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, and employment verifications.

TB clearance within 6 months prior; annual influenza vaccination; pertussis and measles immunization.

Health screening at the time of employment.

Ability to interact with children in a busy environment, lift up to 50 lbs., kneel and squat frequently, and move quickly.

Education High School Diploma/GED; 24 CD units in Early Child Education/Child Development.

Experience Experience working with children.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree in ECE/CD with 24 units, including 6 infant/toddler units.

Associate Teacher Child Development Permit or higher.

1 year of teaching experience.

Creative curriculum experience.

Bilingual English and Spanish (written and verbal).
