About Us The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin‑supported semiconductor consortium comprising state and local government, defense electronics and semiconductor companies, national labs, and nationally recognized academic institutions. TIE’s mission is to develop and execute a state‑of‑the‑art 3‑D heterogeneous integration manufacturing technology roadmap and to provide critical pilot manufacturing capabilities that address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth.

Position title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Department: Texas Institute for Electronics

Location: Austin, TX

Weekly hours: 40

Start date: Ongoing

Duration: Expected to continue

Purpose The Postdoctoral Fellow will advance research in microelectronics thermal management and advanced packaging, engaging in both applied and fundamental research while collaborating with a team of engineers and scientists on cutting‑edge heterogeneous integration.

Responsibilities

Conduct and lead applied and fundamental research in microelectronics thermal management and advanced packaging.

Serve as part of a larger team of engineer‑scientists working on cutting‑edge advancements in heterogeneous integration.

Perform other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

PhD received within the last 3 years in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline with a focus on heat/mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and interfacial sciences.

Experience with experiments and modeling (traditional CFD modeling).

Experience with finite element analysis and/or software packages such as COMSOL or ANSYS.

Familiarity with microelectronics packaging and heterogeneous integration is a plus.

Familiarity with reliability characterization is a plus.

Salary Range $70,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Use of manual dexterity (e.g., using a mouse).

Work Shift

Monday – Friday. Specify whether schedule is 8 am to 5 pm, or flexible between 7 am and 6 pm.
