$5,389 - $6,037 per month

Qualifications

State Teaching Certificate / County Substitute Certificate (60 college units to qualify)

Skill qualifications necessary to complete established performance responsibilities

Prior experience in tennis or related sport

Job Goal(s) To assume responsibility for leadership, supervision and organization of a specific athletic activity; to carry out the objectives of the District Athletic Program, the Conference and the N.J.S.I.A.A.

Supervision Supervision is provided by the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and Building Principal.

Supervision over managers, student athletes, and other adults working in the sport area.

Performance Responsibilities

Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the sport.

Stay current with new ideas and techniques by attending clinics, workshops, and reading relevant materials.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of conference and state rules.

Actively participate in professional organizations.

Responsible for the general upkeep, care, and protection of equipment within your jurisdiction; keep an up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment and arrange their systematic return.

Take appropriate action, including recommendations for improvement, to ensure facilities, fields, locker rooms, or play areas are maintained in a safe and healthy state.

Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, uniforms, and other materials as appropriate.

Assist the Head Coach with the annual budget as requested.

Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and report them to the Head Coach/Athletic Director regularly.

Participate in league and county coaches meetings when appropriate.

Attend pre-season sports physicals.

Have working knowledge of district policies on accident reporting and insurance programs; ensure each athlete has had an appropriate physical examination.

Assist the Head Coach and Athletic Director in compiling eligibility lists.

Communicate to student athletes all rules and regulations related to participation.

Communicate to athletes the criteria for receiving awards.

Provide supervisory control over all phases of team activities.

Conduct practice sessions within your sport according to guidelines specified by the Director of Athletics and coordinate special holiday or weekend practice schedules with them.

Emphasize safety precautions and accepted training and injury procedures; work closely with the school physician, nurse, and athletic trainer as needed.

Conduct yourself in a sportsmanlike fashion at all times and hold your team members accountable for their conduct; enforce discipline and sportsmanship and establish penalties for violations.

Supervise all locker rooms and secure all facilities at the close of each practice or contest.

Recommend awards and criteria for awards as directed by the Director of Athletics and attend all award programs.

Ensure team members are appropriately dressed for trips to other schools.

Coordinate departure times for trips involving loss of school time with the Principal and Director of Athletics, and provide adequate notice to faculty.

Build good sportsmanship and public relations within the school and community; provide relevant information to the news media.

Keep the Head Coach/Director of Athletics informed of program developments and problems as they arise during the season.

Recommend short-term suspensions directly to the Head Coach/Director of Athletics; recommend long-term suspensions or dismissals to the Head Coach/Director of Athletics and the Building Principal.

Teach individual participants the skills necessary for excellence in the sport.

Perform other duties as necessary and assigned by the Head Coach/Director of Athletics.

The incumbent shall be trained by the District to serve as a delegate for administration of the Epi-Pen, as needed.
