Position Summary:
The Safety Officer – Data Center Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment within mission‑critical data center facilities. This role focuses on compliance with OSHA and industry regulations, risk mitigation, incident prevention, and continuous safety improvement in high‑availability, high‑risk environments.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain site‑specific safety programs for data center operations, including electrical safety, confined space, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, and fall protection
Conduct regular safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments of data center facilities, equipment, and contractor activities
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and local/state safety regulations
Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training for employees, contractors, and vendors
Monitor critical environments including raised floors, electrical rooms, mechanical systems, UPS, generators, and cooling infrastructure
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
Manage incident reporting, recordkeeping, and regulatory documentation (OSHA logs, safety metrics, permits)
Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and crisis management procedures specific to data center operations
Serve as the primary safety liaison for clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
Support construction, expansion, and retrofit projects to ensure safety compliance during live data center operations
Promote a strong safety culture through proactive engagement and continuous improvement initiatives
$35 - $55 an hour
