Duties
Lifeguards ensure safety of aquatic customers by scanning the pool, preventing accidents, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies. Employees keep facilities clean and will be asked to clean regularly. All employees must attend in‑service training sessions.
Qualifications The minimum age for Lifeguards and Swim Instructors is 15 years. Applicants under 16 must provide a valid work permit by the first day of work. The ideal candidate is mature, responsible, has a great attitude, enjoys working with people, and can effectively communicate with children and adults.
Employment Information
Year‑round part‑time hours, including school year and summer months.
Summer months: May – August.
School year months: September – April.
Sunday–Saturday 10–35 hours a week.
Staff must be able to work at least one weekday and one weekend shift.
Wages $15 – $20 per hour, depending on experience.
Benefits Free Fitness Center pass for employees who work 8 hours or more per week, along with other discounts toward Park District programs.
