What You'll Do
Develop a general knowledge with all Rolling Mill systems so as to recognize offset conditions and assist to implement corrective actions, changes or adjustments to maintain effective Rolling Mill operations
Prepare and organize guides and roll stands for upcoming product rollings
Become proficient with measuring equipment and techniques and properly use these to assist in building, changing and maintaining stands, guide boxes and loopers and to maintain proper Rolling Mill settings that ensure a quality product
Become proficient in using all other equipment and tools (crane rigging and operations; torch, grinder and pneumatic tools; other hand tools; Mill Operation Systems, eg, QMOS, OWS, etc) to maintain effective Rolling Mill operations
Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed to equipment without the assistance of maintenance personnel
Clean and repair roll stand and guide equipment
Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPE
Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
Ability to troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
What You'll Need
Minimum 1 year field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, attention to details and find root causes for issues
Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
Basic computer skills
Some overtime will be required
Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
Your Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred
