SUMMARY: The Test Shop Technician is responsible for conducting a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical tests on submersible pump systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Transport equipment into shop for pump and seal testing; steam off equipment; remove bolt on heads and intakes; remove caps from pumps; clean heads and bases of pumps with wire buffing wheel and visually inspect for corrosion or erosion to eliminate unnecessary repetition of the process
Perform regular test and inspection procedures to ensure that the product is formed in accordance with the specifications. Implement and identify needs for improvement by conveying it to the senior personnel so that quality of products is maintained
Conduct inspection of motors and components. Observe noticeable markings indicating problems and complete motor testing protocol
Inspect to ensure splines are functional on the shaft and that bearing end supports are in good condition. Flush the pumps, catching samples of solids for the customer to provide explanation for any recommended actions
At electrical test bench, perform computerized assessment of performance curve of the pump to determine efficiency and make any required improvements
Perform minor repairs to seals and pumps as required
Maintain and update the results related to various tests and inspection procedures conducted regarding product specification. Complete paperwork required in support of testing conducted
Comply with Company policy, procedures, and safety requirements, whether written or communicated verbally, including the instructions and directions from individuals in direct supervisory positions
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position
Forklift certification is preferred
EXPERIENCE: No previous experience is required for this position; however, some oilfield experience is preferred.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Basic hand tool proficiency
Basic computer skills required to operate computerized test equipment
Basic-level knowledge of testing equipment
