The role of the custodian is to provide a clean, sanitary, organized, and hospitable environment that is conducive to the studies, work, and events of the students, staff, and guests of Asbury Seminary.

Essential Functions:

Cleans, stocks, organizes, and collects trash. Cleans and/or disinfects all surfaces in classrooms, offices, chapels, conference rooms, fitness facilities, restrooms, hallways, elevators, stairs, and any other spaces in assigned areas.

Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and/or polishes all floors with the appropriate equipment.

Collects all trash and recyclable materials and delivers to the designated locations.

Replenishes restroom supplies.

Cleans, stocks, and organizes storage spaces.

Provides, sets up, and arranges furnishings for classes, meetings, and events. Observes directives from reservation system and provides for spaces accordingly.

Moves tables and event furnishings around campus as required.

Sets up staging and equipment for events as required.

Cleans housing units prior to the arrival of students, families, and guests. Cleans for restoration of kitchen and bathroom appliances, fixtures, and cabinets.

Cleans furniture.

Cleans doors, trim molding, wall and floor vents, light fixtures, windows, blinds, and ceiling fans.

Stocks linen supplies and makes beds in guest units.

Scrubs bathroom and kitchen floors, cleans carpets, and cleans upholstered furniture.

Observes safety measures. Attends monthly safety meeting.

Adheres to safety precautions for chemicals and equipment.

Reports suspicious activity to the proper authority.

Reports broken or non-functioning items to the facilities department.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the custodial supervisor.

Qualifications Required/Preferred Skills

Possess basic knowledge of custodial skills and procedures.

Possess ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Possess ability to be detail oriented and have a conscientious work ethic.

Possess ability to prioritize job duties and have flexibility to react.

Possess good organizational skills and have an attention to details.

Possess ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for majority of shift.

Possess ability to lift light to heavy loads on a daily basis.

Possess ability to work on four-foot to ten-foot ladders.

Possess ability to work beyond scheduled shift on an emergency basis.

Possess ability to work on weekends or holidays when scheduled.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

1-2 years of custodial experience is preferred.
