SAIC is looking for an experienced COMSEC custodian with a hardware/facilities background to be an alternate COMSEC responsible officer (CRO) and perform hardware and facilities work with the team supporting the Space Systems Command’s Innovation and Prototyping System Delta Prototype Ground Branch. This individual will be the alternate CRO for a non-collateral account and a hardware technician supporting task order teams performing sustainment work in a secure operations facility. This work is located at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.

Key CRO responsibilities

Manage COMSEC material and automated equipment, including maintaining security, from receipt through usage and eventual consumption/destruction

Conduct inventories of all equipment handled by hand receipt holders and supporting periodic rekey and installation of new devices

Work with program managers to bridge the gap between high-level security policies and requirements. This includes the technical and operational implementation of those requirements.

Procure and maintain requisite COMSEC materials

Answer questions on process, timeline, status of assets, and reporting

Ensure compliance with government requirements and regulations

Key hardware technician responsibilities

Assist in developing estimates for new equipment and major repairs

Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of facility and equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs

Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments

Conduct analysis and investigations using Failure Mode Analysis and Root Cause

Manage various computer and network spares; identify spare requirements based on utilization and failure rates

Qualifications

Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility, and able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and 9or more years of relevant experience; Master’s degree in related technical field and 7 or more years of relevant experience. Will accept 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

Minimum years of COMSEC custodian experience in a DoD environment AND 3 years of hands‑on systems administration experience

Familiar with COMSEC policies and procedures

Experience with key management infrastructure

Experience preparing for and participating in audits and assessmentsKnowledge of facility operations and maintenance activities and procedures

Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to team with industry partners

Demonstrated track record of adhering to tight schedules with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
