Position Summary The

Technician Trainee and Lube Technician

role offers entry-level technicians an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair. This role includes learning basic maintenance tasks, assisting certified technicians, and performing lube, oil, and filter changes. Ideal candidates are eager to learn, committed to quality work, and dedicated to providing excellent service in line with Thompsons Auto Group’s standards.

Key Responsibilities Basic Maintenance & Lube Services

Perform routine vehicle maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, battery checks, fluid top-offs, and inspections.

Check and replace filters, wiper blades, and other minor parts as needed.

Use Thompsons Auto Group’s established processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy in every service performed.

Assistance & Training

Work alongside experienced technicians to assist with more complex repairs and tasks, learning industry best practices and techniques.

Attend training sessions and complete courses as required to expand technical skills and knowledge.

Observe and comply with safety protocols, shop rules, and industry standards, demonstrating a commitment to Thompsons Auto Group’s core value of continuous improvement.

Customer Service & Communication

Provide courteous service by interacting professionally with customers when necessary, addressing questions with support from more experienced team members.

Communicate any additional repairs or findings to the service advisor for customer review.

Act as a positive representative of Thompsons Auto Group’s servant’s attitude by maintaining a helpful, customer‑focused demeanor.

Shop Maintenance & Safety

Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Participate in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe service area, supporting teamwork and accountability within the department.

Documentation & Reporting

Accurately document completed services, parts used, and observations, ensuring all records are up‑to‑date and thorough.

Assist in tracking and recording service tasks as directed by senior technicians and service advisors

Qualifications Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Some experience in automotive maintenance is preferred but not required; Thompsons Auto Group provides comprehensive training.

Skills & Competencies

Basic understanding of automotive maintenance procedures or a strong willingness to learn.

Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work.

Good communication skills and a positive, team‑oriented attitude.

Professional appearance and conduct consistent with Thompsons Auto Group’s values of integrity and customer care.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and work with hands for extended periods.

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. as required to perform job duties.

Ability to work in various shop conditions, including standing, bending, and reaching.
