About the Position: The
Cook
is responsible for planning food preparation in kitchens, preparing all meals on time, ensuring sanitation, nutrition, and safety are priorities, and following all recipes to maintain quality and cost control.
What You Will Do:
Work directly with the Food Service Manager in the daily planning, preparation, and presentation of three balanced meals a day for the entire program.
Assist in the ordering and storing of food that meets all CDPH and San Diego County Health Department food preparation standards.
Follow the monthly rotation menu.
Help maintain a high standard of physical excellence in the foodservice dining room and kitchen.
Assist in the training and development of students learning the vocation of food service, which includes cooking, food preparation, and presentation of the meal, dining room aesthetics, food storage procedures, and daily hygiene.
Attend Community Building day activities.
Follow the Community schedule and present all meals on time.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or actively working toward HS Diploma or GED.
One year related culinary experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current state driver's license.
ServeSafe Certification.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Maintain social, ethical, and organizational values and norms; build trust and confidence with the staff and with the students; respect confidentiality.
Apply high-performance standards to all work-related activities.
