The Heirloom Restaurant is our flagship restaurant, featuring formal dining and lakeside comfort in the dining room of the historic Athenaeum Hotel. During the nine‑week summer season it is open every day, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the pre‑season (May) and post‑season (September) it is open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and dinner.
Compensation Compensation for this position starts at $18.00/hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $21.00/hour.
Responsibilities
Oversee staff and monitor operations at Host Stand.
Interact with guests and ensure satisfaction is above and beyond.
Maintain standards of a fine dining establishment in a fast‑paced setting.
Work alongside food service staff to ensure a quality guest experience.
Conduct training for seasonal staff.
All other duties as assigned.
Referral Program Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program offers a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees who refer a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions lasting less than six months, the new candidate must remain employed for at least 30 days and until the closing date of the season (the last Sunday in August).
Schedule Seasonal employment offers flexible schedules, full and part‑time, during summer operations (June to August). Pre‑season (May) and post‑season (September) schedules may also be available based on business needs. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and require an eight‑hour shift with start times varying between 5 am and 5 pm.
Living on the Grounds No employer‑provided housing is available for this position. Applicants should plan to secure independent housing or reside within a commutable distance.
