Job Purpose:
The Certified Peer Specialist II at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for providing peer support services to clients within the 0-5 years experience range. The role involves utilizing personal experiences to assist clients in their recovery journey, fostering a supportive environment, and promoting wellness and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver peer support services to clients by sharing personal recovery experiences and offering encouragement.
Facilitate group sessions and individual meetings to support clients in achieving their recovery goals.
Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement individualized recovery plans.
Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources and support networks.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress.
Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and the community.
Promote a culture of recovery and wellness within the behavioral center.
Engage in outreach activities to increase awareness and understanding of peer support services.
Qualifications Required Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Certification as a Peer Specialist from a recognized certifying body.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
Experience in peer support or related roles within mental health or substance use recovery services.
Proven track record of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with individuals in recovery.
Ability to provide empathetic support and encouragement to peers.
Knowledge of recovery principles and the ability to apply them in practice.
Competency in documenting interactions and maintaining accurate records.
Familiarity with community resources and the ability to guide peers in accessing them.
Capacity to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in peer support services.
