The Ordinary Seaman (OS) supports vessel operations by performing basic deck duties and assisting in the safe operation of the vessel under the direct supervision of deck officers and senior unlicensed personnel. This role contributes to deck maintenance, seamanship tasks, and the operation of deck equipment in support of daily vessel activities. Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate vessel deck equipment under the direct supervision of ship’s officers. Assist with routine deck tasks including cleaning, painting, preservation, and general housekeeping. Support mooring, anchoring, rigging, and line-handling operations as directed. Assist in operating small deck machinery and tools in compliance with safety procedures. Participate in required drills, safety training, and emergency response activities. Maintain deck areas, equipment, and storage spaces in safe and orderly condition. Perform other duties as assigned to support vessel operations and deck department needs. Requirements & Qualifications:

Must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with an Ordinary Seaman endorsement or higher. Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Must possess or be eligible for a United States Passport. Must meet physical and medical standards for shipboard service, including stamina for manual labor and work in marine environments. Ability to follow instructions, learn seamanship skills, and work as part of a deck team. Willingness to perform cleaning, maintenance, and basic deck tasks as assigned.\ Must meet all company and contractual requirements. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
