Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, properly shelve and locate library materials
Deliver library materials via the library vehicle
Move tables, chairs, and equipment
Perform related work as required
Accurately shelve library materials, retrieve, and check in library materials from inside the library and from outside book drops
Locate and process items on hold
Move and set up tables, chairs, and equipment for programs and meetings
Back up co‑workers at service desks
Deliver books and other materials to library branches
Travel to different library branches in the performance of assigned duties
Serve on committees as needed
Drive on City business
Employment Standards Knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in interacting and communicating tactfully and effectively with a diverse population; operating modern computers and related software. Ability to work in a diverse environment as a team member; follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public; work independently when performing essential functions and tasks requiring attention to detail; work a schedule that includes weekends and after hours.
Education / Training High school graduation or equivalent.
Special Conditions & Requirements The physical ability to perform essential functions of the classification, which includes the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, bend in all directions, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, and reach above shoulder height.
License & Certificates A valid California Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent at time of appointment. All required licenses and certificates must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.
