This is a district position for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher’s primary location will be Tecumseh North Elementary School, but they will also support other district schools as needed.
It is preferred that candidates be fluent in both Spanish and English, but this is not required.
General Description of ELL Teacher Responsibilities:
Serve as a resource to classroom teachers to help ELL students achieve academic goals in the classroom.
Communicate language needs and progress of the ELL students with classroom teachers, administrators, and families.
Facilitate small group and individual instruction to non‑English speaking or limited English proficient students.
Use language teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students who speak a language other than English at home.
Advocate for the needs of the ELL students.
Evaluate the language needs of students whose families speak a language other than English at home and recommend appropriate language support.
Administer a language screener to students for whom a language barrier is impeding their academic success.
Administer ELL assessments.
Write ELL accommodation plans for students.
Maintain accurate ELL cumulative files and communicate changes to Student Services.

The district has a student population of approximately 3,500 students in grades Pre‑Kindergarten through 12th grade. Four elementary schools, a 7/8 middle school, and a 9‑12 high school comprise the district’s attendance centers.
