Position Summary The Environmental Services Technician Level I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. Responsible for ensuring daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and customer experience.
Essential Functions
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms and ancillary areas, to include, but not limited to, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms as directed and any other areas that may require attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
Must have good working knowledge and be capable of accessing and using all department related technology systems, such as but not limited to, the Bed Management systems.
Replenishes supplies as needed, remove bio‑medical waste, trash and soiled linen as required daily and changes cubicle/window curtains as needed.
Completes patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions and overall cleanliness standards utilizing the approved procedures for patient room cleaning to include Bed Management systems where applicable.
Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor‑saving products for all items within the healthcare environment for which tasked with servicing.
Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
Responsibilities and expectations are clear, focusing on daily cleaning and disinfecting, supply management, technology utilization, and adherence to safety and infection control.
