Generator Technician – Los Angeles, CA Are you a skilled and highly motivated Generator Technician in the Los Angeles area who is looking to learn and grow in a fast‑paced, challenging job? This role involves servicing and repairing commercial generators on cell phone towers and is ideal for independent self‑stanners who are willing to travel.
Core Responsibilities
Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, install and replace components or entire systems, and perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out‑of‑season equipment.
Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance to ensure proper readiness, reading and following blueprints or other design specifications for installation or repair.
Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components, testing for proper operation.
Respond promptly to Power/Generator alarms; be available on call 24/7 if necessary, answering assigned phone and email in a timely manner.
Perform work with awareness of all potential hazards such as falls, electric shock, falling objects, and traffic; use safety equipment and adhere to safety practices; attend and participate in all designated safety and training meetings.
Core Experience
Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance (preferred); minimum one year of intensive work‑related experience with generator and electrical maintenance software, hardware, and processes.
Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair, including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components; moderate computer skills.
Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.
Physical/Work Environment
Requires lifting over 50 pounds, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and standing for long periods.
Must inspect and troubleshoot equipment/alarms visually and audibly.
Willing and able to drive long distances, work day, evening, or night hours; overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required; may be on 24‑hour on‑call duty.
Must pass a DOT physical.
